Common Miele dishwasher faults
Miele dishwasher not draining or showing F11
F11 is Miele’s water-drainage error. The cause is typically a blocked drain pump, a kinked or blocked drain hose, a blocked filter assembly, or — less commonly — a failed drain pump motor. The fix is identifying which of those is the actual blockage and clearing it. We carry replacement Miele drain pumps on the van for the common G-series models.
Miele dishwasher leaking — F70 or water under the machine
F70 indicates Miele’s waterproof system has detected water in the base. The machine pumps continuously to prevent damage. The leak source is usually a perished door seal, a cracked sump, a perished pump seal, or one of the internal hoses. Tracking the leak is part of the diagnostic. Miele’s waterproof system is one of the better designs in the industry — when it works as intended, a leak is detected and contained before it damages cabinetry.
Miele dishwasher won’t heat — chalky dishes, greasy results
Miele dishwashers use a flow-through heater integrated with the recirculation pump. When the heater element fails, the wash cycle still runs but water doesn’t reach the right temperature. Diagnosis is resistance testing on the heat circuit and visual inspection of the connector pins (a common Miele-specific failure point on older G-series). Repair is a heat-pump or pump-and-heater assembly replacement.
Miele dishwasher AutoDos and PowerDisk faults
Miele’s G 7000 series introduced AutoDos — an automatic detergent dispensing system that uses PowerDisks of pre-portioned detergent. Common faults: AutoDos compartment not opening, PowerDisk dispensing incorrectly, or the machine reporting “no PowerDisk detected” when one is loaded. Diagnostics are model-specific; we’ve fixed all of these on G 7000 series machines.
Miele dishwasher KnockToOpen, ComfortClose and door faults
KnockToOpen (door opens with a knock on the fascia, no handle) and ComfortClose (soft-close door) are Miele’s premium handle-less features. The door release motor, the knock sensor, or the door damper can fail with use. Parts are model-specific and we order them in when needed — typically a 3-5 business day turnaround through Miele Australia parts.
Miele dishwasher control board faults
Control-board failures become more common as Miele dishwashers move past 8-10 years of service. Symptoms include random programme behaviour, blank displays, error codes that don’t match the actual symptom, or the dishwasher not powering up. Miele NTC sensor and salt sensor faults
The NTC temperature sensor and the salt-level sensor (water softener system) can fail and present as cycle errors. Both are diagnosable on site with the right equipment.
